Primary School of Gonni
Historical Review
The first public school buildings of Gonni, the Primary School of Gonni was created about 1900 and had two teaching departments. Initially, one was a four-class type and the other was a two-class type. They were located south of the central square of the village. The four-class building is west of the main road of the village and the two-class building east of the road.
The school type was Syggrou. Over time and for the school needs, the necessary extensions were made. All this pre-war.
During the Occupation and the Resistance, destruction occurred - in 1943 - to the buildings, archives and supervisory means, that's why there are no data for up to this period (especially for the period 1943-1947). The history of the school, with many elements, begins in 1948.
In 1948, the roof and windows of the two-class building were repaired by the Reconstruction Service and it was immediately used for teaching. Until then, classes were held in temples and warehouses after the buildings were destroyed.
In 1950-1951 the army vacated the western building as well and the general repair of both buildings began. From then on, the school operated in both buildings until the earthquake in June 2003.
Since 1952, the school garden has been built to the south of the two-story building on an area of 1,140 sq.m. in the area of the community of Gonni (in the place of the current kindergarten).
In 1953, the construction of the 2,000 sq.m. arcade took place south of the four-class building (in the place of the current primary school), while in 1955 the toilets were built.
The school was remodeled in 1958 with the addition of classrooms and auxiliary spaces.

The school operated in both buildings from 1958 until June 2003, when they were seriously damaged due to a major earthquake in the town of Gonni.
In 2008 it was founded and in 2012 the new building of the Primary School of Gonni was handed over, right across from the old building which was recently restored.
The operation of the school in the period 2003 - 2012 was transferred for about nine years and co-located with the Lyceum of Gonni as the old buildings were deemed unsuitable.
From the 2012-2013 school year, the Primary School of Gonni operates up with 6 classes, for the pupils from the villages Gonni, Itea, Tempi and Elia.
